'During The Wait' is an improvised piano solo suite I recorded in 2017. The total consists of four parts. I was experimenting with a very untypical microphone setup to try to capture what I was hearing sitting behind the keys, rather than close micing the strings of the piano. Therefor the piano sounds a bit roomy. But that's all intentional. Sometimes you'll hear me make some weird noises or the chair I'm sitting on cracking. It's all part of the atmosphere. I didn't pay much attention to the recording after recording it and it ended up on a shelf, until I heard it again some time later, and discovered that I actually really liked the vibe of what I'd captured that day, with all the musical experimentation and little mistakes. The four parts are exactly as I played them in real time, so no editing, redoing or fixing. Just pure honest ideas that are being created on the spot, in the moment.
